Mary Donovan has over 25 years experience
in U.S. and international trademark, copyright, and licensing issues
for a wide variety of clients, in such diverse areas as publishing,
pharmaceuticals, sports, toys, fashion, and design. Her expertise
includes the acquisition and maintenance of marks in the United
States and abroad, including prosecution and defense of opposition
and cancellation actions.
She also works with many law firms and agents abroad in advising
foreign clients on how to protect their rights within the U.S. As
one who spent three years as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500
company, Mary is particularly sensitive to the concerns of companies
on issues of costs, efficiency, and effectiveness of their intellectual
property programs.
Mary has always been an active participant in the International
Trademark Association (“INTA”), where she has been a
member of several committees. She is currently co-chair of the INTA
Bulletin subcommittee on feature articles. Mary has written several
articles for INTA publications including "Remarks" and
The INTA Bulletin and has been a frequent lecturer at INTA seminars.
A graduate of Suffolk Law School in Boston, Mary also holds an
LLM degree from New York University.
Mary is a member of the bars of New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts;
the U.S. District Court, New Jersey and the Southern and Eastern
Districts of New York.
